Summer volunteer opportunity in community outreach and support services

Family Services' Neighborhood Safety Net program offers free assistance with referrals to emergency services and other resources for residents living in Montgomery County and assistance with applications for those services.

The program is looking for student volunteers to help from June 15 through August 30 (with some flexibility). This is a wonderful opportunity for volunteers to make a difference in our community.

Volunteer responsibilities include:

  • Helping to distribute flyers and information about the program at outreach events in the community
  • Make phone calls to clients to schedule appointments
  • Help clients fill out intake forms
  • Help with administrative tasks such as copying, faxing and organizing files

Volunteer qualifications include:

  • Dependable and a self-starter
  • Comfortable working with people
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English is required
  • Students 16 and older welcome to volunteer
  • Available to help 1-2 times per week
  • Tuesdays from 1:30-4:30pm and/or Wednesdays 10:00am-1:30pm
  • Able to provide own transportation to program location at 610 East Diamond Avenue, Suite 100, Gaithersburg

All interested volunteers must submit a completed volunteer application and attend an orientation to learn more about Family Services and our volunteer policies.
