Friday and Sunday Pantry Volunteers

We are currently seeking volunteers for Friday mornings and Sunday afternoons.

On Friday mornings we have two different opportunities:
First, we are looking for volunteers who can help with food rescue at a local grocery store. This begins at 8am, and volunteers must have a reliable vehicle to pickup and transport groceries back to the food pantry at 1520 Westbrook St. in Portland.
Second, from 9am-11:30am we need volunteers to help sort and process all of the food from our pickups and donations that week and prepare it for distribution.
If you are looking to volunteer for the 8am pickup you could stay on until 11:30 and help process the food back at the pantry, or you could just signup for the pickup, please let us know your availability when inquiring.

On Sunday afternoons we are looking for volunteers from 11:45-3pm to setup, fill boxes with food and distribute boxes to clients as they arrive.

The Stroudwater Food Pantry (SFP) is a registered hunger relief agency with the US Department of Agriculture and the Good Shepherd Food Bank of Maine. We service the Greater Portland Community by providing fresh meat, dairy, produce and non-perishable foods to people in need. Our mission is to feed those who are hungry and to reduce the number of meal insecure families throughout Southern Maine. In 2021 SFP distributed 105 tons of groceries to families in need.
