We are looking for 10 volunteers to help with set up, registration and clean up following the event. Before or after your shift enjoy the event for free! See below for more details:
Roll and Read is free community event hosted by Children's Home Society of Washington in partnership with Bimbo Bakery. This event is dedicated to promoting literacy and reading for children during the summer school break. With support volunteers and families children walk, push a stroller or pull a wagon around 5 designated areas (Kent Library, name the others) in downtown Kent where they will engage in a variety of fun and educational activities. After the guided walk, they will return to Children's Home Society of Washington (put in address) where all children will receive a donated backpack, school supplies and a book of their own to take home with them to read during summer break.
We need volunteers to:
- Set up
- Help at the registration table
- Walk with children and families within Kent
- Help with face painting, games and other activities
- Help with decorating wagons/strollers etc.
- Hand out backpacks, school supplies and books
- Serve food and drinks
- Refill/stock when we run low on supplies
- Help children get around the fire engine
- Help with photography (we have a photographer but we will need some structure on lining up etc. )
- Clean Up
