ORGANIZATION: SPCA Tampa Bay

Are you handy around the house? Do you enjoy fixing things? The objective of our Maintenance and Repair Volunteers is to provide assistance to the Facilities team by building and repairing facilities related tasks.

Qualifications:

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Handyman/woman experience preferred
  • Knowledge of standard SPCA policies and procedures
  • Ability to follow all safety protocols
  • Ability to communicate and work well with the public, staff and other volunteers
  • Pay a nonrefundable amount of $10 for volunteer gear

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with basic repairs and facility maintenance requests
  • Assist with painting, power washing, building projects, cleaning and related work
  • Professionally represent SPCA Tampa Bay at all times

Training:

  • Complete telephone meet and greet with Volunteer Program Manager
  • Complete onsite meeting with Facilities Manager
  • Ongoing training provided by Facilities team

Physical Demands:

  • Ability to work in different weather conditions
  • Ability to lift or move up to 75 pounds
  • Ability to carry, kneel, bend, push and pull consistent with landscape maintenance
  • Walk and stand for prolonged periods of time

Time Commitment:

  • Flexible
  • Monday-Friday: 9:00 am-5:00 pm

  • SPCA Tampa Bay - Largo location
  • SPVC - St. Petersburg location

SPCA Tampa Bay is the only non-profit, animal welfare agency that runs an open-admission animal shelter, pet training facility and public veterinary center in Pinellas County. Our shelter in Largo cares for more than 8,000 animals annually that have been surrendered by their owners, along with injured wildlife. SPCA Tampa Bay cares for dogs, cats, pocket pets, exotic animals, and livestock like goats and pigs. Animals receive immunizations, medical care, behavior training and enrichment, and loving care while they live at our shelter.
