Description

THE COOPER FAMILY FOUNDATION IS A NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION WHICH RAISES MONEY FOR JUNETEENTH (BLACK INDEPENDENCE DAY) EVERY Y ... EAR. YOU MAY WONDER WHY??
The Cooper Family has led the celebration of Juneteenth in San Diego for over 49 years. Sidney Cooper Sr. who was a businessman and pillar in the African-American community led the charge in the recognition of Juneteenth. He continued to be Juneteenth's biggest fan until he passed away. The Cooper Family continues in his spirit by keeping the recognition and celebration of this historic day in the forefront of the San Diego community. It is our intention to make this day the biggest celebration in the city of San Diego.

WELL LETS US TELL YOU ITS IMPORTANCE : Juneteenth is a celebration of Black Independence Day. This day is marked by the date of June 19, 1865 when troops delivered the message to the last of the southern slaves that slavery had been abolished. This day is not yet a national holiday, but is widely recognized and celebrated throughout the United States as Black Independence Day in the African-American communities.
