Are you a high school student who enjoys mentoring young children and leading them in learning activities outdoors? We encourage you to apply to volunteer with Duke Gardens 2024 Summer Camp.

(You must be must be 16 years or older by June 2024 to apply! )

Summer camp volunteer duties: camp volunteers will assist the camp staff with a variety of tasks, including setting up and cleaning up activity supplies, leading small group activities, leading games, serving snack, organizing supplies, and acting as role models for the elementary school age camp participants.
Must be able to communicate with Gardens' staff, fellow volunteers, and campers with a friendly, positive attitude to ensure quality experience. Student volunteers must be punctual, able to stand, bend and kneel to perform duties in a various weather conditions, indoors and outdoors.

Times/days needed:
Volunteers will be needed any or all days listed below. Training is required and will be offered on Sat. June 1,2024 from 8:30am-1pm at Duke Gardens.

  • June 10-14 Growing Scientists (rising K-2)-camp 9:00-1:00; aftercare 1:00-4:00pm
  • June 24-28 Growing Scientists (rising 3-5) -camp 9:00-1:00; aftercare 1:00-4:00pm
  • July 8-12 Eco Artist (rising K-2) -camp 9:00-1:00; aftercare 1:00-4:00pm
  • July 15-19 Eco Artist (rising 3-5) -camp 9:00-1:00; aftercare 1:00-4:00pm
  • July 22-26 Plant it, grow it, eat it (rising K-2) -camp 9:00-1:00; aftercare 1:00-4:00pm
  • July 29-August 2 Plant it, grow it, eat it (rising 3-5) -camp 9:00-1:00; aftercare 1:00-4:00pm
  • August 5-9 Things with Wings (rising K-2) -camp 9:00-1:00; aftercare 1:00-4:00pm

  • From June 1 - August 19,  2024. Mondays-Fridays (8:30 am - 1:30 pm OR 8:30 am-4:00 pm). Volunteers may sign up to assist any or all weeks of camp on the dates listed in description.
  • Training is required and will be held on June 1, 2024 from 8:30am-1:00 pm at Duke Gardens.
