When animals come to us, whether as homeless pets or for spay/neuter, they need compassionate care.
Our Medical Center is the first stop for all animals coming to PAWS Chicago. Some require just a couple days before being cleared for adoption. But others need extensive medical care, surgery, isolation or fostering before being ready to move to one of our Adoption Centers or adoption events.
You do not need to have a medical background to help in these roles! All that is needed is a desire to help those animals most in need.
As a Volunteer at the PAWS Chicago Medical Center, your work may include:
- Providing sick and injured animals with much-needed attention and socialization
- Walking and socializing healthy animals who have cleared from medical procedures and are preparing to move to an Adoption Center.
- Assisting our Animal Care team with cleaning and general facility upkeep
Daytime shifts are our greatest need! We particularly need volunteers to help walk dogs and help with cleaning and maintenance between 8am - 12 noon.

About PAWS Chicago
Location:

Mission Statement
Our Mission To build No Kill communities - starting with a No Kill Chicago - that respect and value the life of every cat and dog. To end the overpopulation of homeless animals through solutions, practices and education. To transform animal welfare by setting higher standards in the way animals are treated and developing a sustainable, solutions-based model.
Description
PAWS Chicago is the city's largest No Kill humane organization, focused on solutions to end the killing of homeless pets. Since our founding in 1997, homeless dogs and cats killed annually in the City of Chicago has dropped more than 50 percent. PAWS Chicago is working to build a No Kill Chicago -- a city where pets are no longer destroyed just because they are homeless
Volunteers are the life force of PAWS Chicago. They touch every aspect of our operations and provide the highest-quality care for our pets. This work enables us to magnify our impact and save more lives. Last year, our volunteers donated enough hours to equal the work of 50 full-time employees.
By joining PAWS Chicago’s team of dedicated volunteers, you’ll build strong relationships with other like-minded volunteers, the animal-loving community, and of course, the animals themselves. Working together, we will build a No Kill community where all healthy and treatable pets are saved.
