Be the reason why someone looks forward to Fridays.
Be prepared to enjoy live music, art projects and interesting conversations while brightening someone's day at the NE Day Spot-a weekly engagement program on Fridays for people experiencing a chronic condition (like memory loss) and their care partners.
Safe and engaging community connection is vital for caregivers and the people they care for. Working with East Side staff, volunteers help create a community of care by being a NE Day Spot Friend. Your time will be spent engaged in a wide variety of fun activities with participants. Training for this position will be provided with a focus on socializing with people experiencing memory loss and other chronic conditions. Shifts are on Friday from 10:10-Noon. We ask that volunteers commit to 2-4 shifts per month so they become a familiar face to participants. Weekly activity boxes will be provided to be used during the virtual gatherings.
Ability to join in on Zoom is required.
Because weekly activity boxes are available to be picked up or delivered only in the Minneapolis area, please only local virtual volunteers.
This position would be beneficial for people currently training in medical or social service fields, art therapy, music therapy, and people retired from those fields who want to experience working with people with memory loss or other chronic conditions.
