Volunteers typically drive our Seniors to the grocery store and doctor’s appointments, assist in running errands to the bank or post office, picking up prescriptions, or going to a social outing or class. Some participants may be frail, recovering from surgery, hearing impaired, have poor vision, confusion, or other disability.

The following information is required by all interested volunteers in addition to our standard application:

  • Obtain a Level 1 Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Clear Central Registry
  • Direct Service Position Form
  • Criminal History Self Disclosure Affidavit
  • Current Driver’s License
  • Current vehicle registration
  • Current vehicle insurance
  • DOT 39 month drivers record

TCAA provides education, stability, and advocacy to working poor families, children, seniors, and the homeless.

Description

TCAA is Tempe's primary "safety net", providing basic needs and emergency assistance for low income and elderly community members, while encouraging self-reliance. The Community Action Program provides rent / utility assistance, food boxes, career services, cooking on a budget, community garden, homeless prevention, and pre-natal services. The Senior Action Program provides social activities, congregate meals, and home delivered meals.
