Generations Incorporated is looking for adult volunteers to serve as literacy coaches at Elementary Schools in Revere. Volunteers tutor small groups of students in a classroom (K-3rd grade) or work one-on-one with students. No previous experience teaching is required, just a desire to help children become better readers!
Our volunteers attend a 6-hour initial training, are supported by a Site Team Leader at their service location, and are provided monthly professional development meetings for ongoing support. Volunteers are placed in a classroom or work one-on-one with a student twice per week. Volunteers develop a relationship with their students, see meaningful improvement in reading skills, and serve as a mentor.
Volunteers commit to serving for the full school year for five hours per week (over two days for 2.5 hours each day). (Some opportunities to receive a monthly stipend are available for individuals who volunteer 10 hours per week.)
Opportunities are typically available mornings between the hours 8:30 am - 11:30 am, Mondays - Thursdays.

Literations is a nonprofit literacy organization dedicated to improving the reading proficiency of young students in 1st through 4th grade in under-resourced communities using a proven literacy model and trained volunteer coaches.
Nearly 70% of students who live in our communities are not reading at grade level when they enter the fourth grade. Literations is squarely positioned to address the urgent need for individualized support given the growing opportunity gaps for young students.
