Mission Statement
To provide individualized healthcare to the poor, frail, and elderly by meeting the needs and desires of the body, mind, and spirit from the moment care is needed through the end of life.
Description
St. Margaret’s Hospice, located in New Orleans, is dedicated to ensuring our patients can live out the rest of their lives with peaceful dignity. Our services are not an aggressive treatment program, but our patients receive personalized pain management and emotional support. Because hospice is a kind of palliative care, our objective is to treat the symptoms and not the illness. When given a six-month life expectancy, many patients prefer end-of-life care that avoids heroic measures and focuses on the patient's quality of life.
Volunteers at St. Margaret's Hospice provide companionship or aid to hospice patients and/or their families as well as help us with office administration and planning events. The time commitment volunteers provide is very flexible.
