GOAL/IMPACT
Crossing the finish line. Scoring a point. Celebrating with the team. Special Olympics Southern California (SOSC) is dedicated to moments such as these, because it is through these moments our athletes find strength, success, confidence, and joy. SOSC Development & Fundraising Interns help make moments like these by increasing awareness and funds for SOSC programs. Our programming is 100% free to all participants and we cannot achieve our mission without fundraising efforts. So, step onto the podium with us and try out for your place on the team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the procurement of in-kind donations, sponsorships, auction items, and other budget alleviating initiatives:
- Make phone calls, send emails, complete donation request forms, foster relationships
- Identify potential corporate partners in the Orange County Region
- Assist in the planning and development of Special Events

The mission of Special Olympics Southern California is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community. Our vision is to promote acceptance, inclusion, and wellbeing for people with intellectual disabilities through sports.

- • This internship is most successful when completed Jan – June with the opportunity to expand beyond those dates. Attendance at Special Events within the time frame is required. • 10-15 hrs/wk at the OC Office
- • Strong organizational and people skills with superb customer service skills • Ability to work independently and in a team environment • Proficiency in Microsoft Suite including Word, Excel, Outlook and ability to learn new programs
