GOAL/IMPACT

Special Olympics Southern California’s (SOSC) vision is to promote acceptance, inclusion, and well-being for people with intellectual disabilities through sports. Special Olympics is the world’s largest sports organization for people with intellectual disabilities. Through the power of sports, our athletes discover new strengths and abilities, skills, and success - on the playing field and in life. Law enforcement are huge supporters of SOSC and raise over 1 million dollars each year through events like LETR and Over the Edge. LETR Interns work alongside staff and law enforcement to develop these events - Put your enthusiasm towards a great cause and join us today!

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Consistently work with law enforcement officers, athletes, coaches, parents and other volunteers to ensure quality events
  • Over The Edge: assist with participant recruitment by reaching out to local businesses and community partners. Assist with communication to participants and teams.
  • Law Enforcement Torch Run: assist with event logistics and communication between law enforcement to ensure all events and activities are organized.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Driver's License Needed
  • Background Check
  • Must be at least 18
  • Orientation or Training
  • • Ideally candidate will work between May 1 – September 1; flexible schedule with a minimum commitment of 10-12 hours per week • Attendance at Over the Edge and various LETR fundraisers is expected; dates to be provided
  • • Must complete a volunteer application, required training, and background check • Ability to work independently and in a team environment • Experience in sales and/or customer service • Experience with building relationships with key individuals
