Volunteer Opportunity at KMA’s 2025 Summer Art Academy - Email Danielle Mann to register! dmann@knoxart.org
Get ready for a creative and rewarding summer! The Knoxville Museum of Art’s 2025 Summer Art Academy (SAA) offers weeklong, hands-on art classes for young artists ages 3-17. Classes run Monday through Friday, and we need enthusiastic, reliable volunteers (age 16+) to help make it all happen!
As a Teacher’s Assistant, you’ll:
Help teachers prep the classroom and materials
Support students with their art projects
Assist during snack time and breaks
Help tidy up at the end of each class
Volunteer shifts are:
Morning: 8:45am - 12:15pm
You’ll volunteer Monday-Friday for the full week of class. We ask for this commitment to provide consistency for our young artists-but you’re welcome to sign up for more than one week if you’d like!
To get started, you'll need to:
Submit a Volunteer Application with our Standards of Conduct & Ethics form
Complete our 2025 SAA Volunteer Duties form
Once we receive your paperwork, we’ll schedule a quick 15-minute interview (in person or via Zoom). This is required before volunteering.
Volunteers 18 and older must also complete a background check through the Knoxville Police Department Records Unit:
1650 Huron St., Knoxville, TN 37917
Open Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm
$10 (cash or check only; reimbursed by KMA)
Bring a government-issued photo ID and your social security card
Includes both TN JIMS and Cisco background checks
No appointment needed - walk-ins only!
For background check questions, contact Sean Burke, Education Program Coordinator, at
education@knoxart.org or (865) 444-5475.
Help kids explore the world of art while gaining valuable experience in a museum setting. We can't wait to have you join us for a fun and inspiring week!
