Event Description:
Join staff in helping to keep Durant Nature Preserve clean and beautiful at our "Big Sweep" event. The "Big Sweep" is a county and state wide initiative to help keep our watersheds clean by removing litter. Please help us to support this great effort!
Volunteer Duties:
Volunteers will help remove litter from Durant Nature Preserve. This includes along the trails and through the woods.
Impact:
By removing litter, we can help provide a healthier environment for wildlife and citizens to enjoy.
Work Environment:
All volunteer work will be outside. We will be working outside, on uneven terrain on and off the trail. There is a restroom on site.
Volunteer Requirements:
Volunteers must be at least 12 years old to volunteer. Adults must register and accompany children under the age of 16. Everyone who volunteers must sign a release form. If anyone is under the age of 18, a parent or guardian must sign their form.
Special Instructions:
Please bring a water bottle, wear sturdy, close-toed shoes, and clothing you can get dirty. We will supply the tools and work-gloves. Pre-registration is required. Adults must register and accompany children.
Group Registration Information:
Registration as a volunteer is first come, first served. A group leader must email mary.owens@raleighnc.gov to register. All groups will be required to provide a list of names and emails for their volunteers.
Per department policy, this volunteer opportunity is not to be used towards court-appointed/ suggested community service hours.
