NOTE: Due to the current health crisis we are taking appropriate measures to protect our staff, volunteers, and the general public. In compliance with the Seminole County Mask Mandate, we ask that everyone wear a mask and observe social distancing.

Habitat for Humanity Seminole-Apopka has several different volunteer opportunities to match all interests, experience, and activity levels:

  1. Come out to one of our Construction sites! - Habitat's primary mission is to improve affordable housing in our community, which we do by partnering with families in need and building quality housing. Whether you have prior construction experience or not, we'd love to have you volunteer on our construction sites - training and tools are provided by our Site Supers.
    • We regularly have two construction project in progress at a time, one in Seminole County and one in Apopka. You are welcome to volunteer at whichever one is more convenient for you.
    • To volunteer on the Construction site please go to habitatseminoleapopka.org/volunteer, click "Sign Up For A Build Day," then choose the time/day and location that works best for you and sign up. Introductions and orientation are first thing in the morning (8:00 am) when everyone arrives at the build site.
  2. Volunteer at our ReStore! Construction isn't for everyone, but we need your time and talents just as much in our thrift store. The store serves as a direct fundraising arm for our construction efforts - 100% of the profit from our store goes straight into our building fund.
    • Our ReStore is located in Sanford at 1100 Americana Blvd., Sanford, FL, 32773. As soon as you've completed orientation you are welcome to volunteer however it fits into your schedule.
    • To volunteer at our ReStore you will need to attend an orientation. These are held every week on alternating Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings. Go to habitatseminoleapopka.org/volunteer and click "Thrift Store Orientation," there you will see a calendar with upcoming dates and times for our Orientations. Pick the one that is most convenient for you and sign up!
  3. Become an Office Volunteer! - With so much that goes into running a non-profit organization like ours, we always appreciate assistance in our administrative office with answering phones, returning phone calls, and basic data entry along with other office projects.
    • We ask that our office volunteers commit to at least one regular shift per week.
    • For office volunteer positions send an email to volunteer@habitat-sa.org.
We love having volunteers with a wide variety of experiences, skills, and abilities. If you have any questions, comments, or concerns you can always email us at volunteer@habitat-sa.org or call us at 407-696-5855 ext. 2206.

We look forward to hearing from you!

Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity in Seminole County & Greater Apopka is an ecumenical, Christian housing ministry that seeks to build and renovate safe, decent, affordable housing in partnership with low- and very low-income residents in Seminole County and Apopka.

Description

While our origins are Christian in nature, we do not discriminate based on race, religion, sexual identity, age or any other factor. Simply put, we seek to give people of all backgrounds a hand up -- not a handout -- in order to ensure a better life and a brighter future. Hardworking & deserving families partner with our organization to achieve the American dream of homeownership. By proving a housing need, demonstrating their ability to pay and fulfilling their partnership requirement, partner families are transformed into homeowners. Habitat Seminole & Apopka has served nearly 130 families in its 20 years, but the need for affordable housing in our commnunity continues to grow. By partnering with local leaders, corporations & small businesses, philanthropic foundations and individuals, we hope to achieve our vision of a world in which everyone has a safe, decent, affordable place to live.
