Auction Events Internship

Make-A-Wish(r)Greater Bay Area is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that fulfills the wishes of children between the ages of 2-1/2 and 18 battling life-threatening medical conditions. Make-A-Wish(r) Greater Bay Area was founded in 1984. In its first year, a total of 27 wishes were granted. Now one of the largest chapters nationwide, we have granted more than 8,000 wishes to date and grant more than 400 wishes per year. The Greater Bay Area Chapter is headquartered in Oakland, and serves 17 counties of Northern California, granting 400 wishes per year.

Summary:

The Events Department is looking for an intern to assist with the preparation for events related to live and silent auctions and raffles. This pivotal position will help the Events Team grant more wishes through improved fundraising for three large-scale fundraisers this summer. We are looking for someone to contribute 8-15 hours per week. These shifts must be done during our office hours - 9am-5pm, M-F. We can mutually decide on a schedule, but preferable on Tuesdays or Wednesdays. We may need extra help on the weeks leading up to events (June 29, July 20, August 24).

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include the following:

• Winemaker Dinner Series Auction Solicitation and Prep:
  • Researching potential auction item donors - especially hotels, wineries, and restaurants
  • Communicating with potential donors about donations, including cold calling and email solicitation
  • Helping to create auction displays for events, including bid sheet creation and bidder checkout preparations
  • Tracking interactions and donations in event software (Greater Giving), and in our database (Raiser’s Edge)
  • Tracking/reporting of auction in-kind to national office finance team
• Other miscellaneous administrative tasks related to event
• Organizing/inventorying wine storage
