NOTE: Due to the current health crisis we are taking appropriate measures to protect our staff, volunteers, and the general public. In compliance with the Seminole County Mask Mandate, we ask that everyone wear a mask and observe social distancing.

IF YOU ARE FEELING ILL OR KNOW YOU HAVE BEEN EXPOSED TO SOMEONE WITH COVID PLEASE STAY HOME AND TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF!

However, we need the help of volunteers now more than ever!

Need community service hours for Bright Future, an Honors Society, or other school requirement? Want something awesome to put on your resume and/or college applications? Just bored and want something to do? Volunteer with Habitat for Humanity!

You'll also be able to meet new people, learn personal and professional life skills, and feel good about making a positive impact on your community. Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to improving housing conditions and transforming neighborhoods by building affordable housing for families in need; every hour of volunteer service goes directly to supporting this mission.

  • Want to get hands on and learn about building a house? Volunteer at one of our construction sites! We are currently working on a remodeling project in Sanford, and will be beginning a new project in Altamonte Springs starting in August. Please go to habitatseminoleapopka.org/volunteer, and click the "Sign Up For A Build Day" button to view a calendar of available dates and sign up to reserve your spot. To protect everyone's health and safety we have limited spots available!
  • Construction not your thing? Not everyone likes being outside in the heat, we get it. You can volunteer at our (air conditioned) ReStore! Go to habitatseminoleapopka.org/volunteer, and click the "Thrift Store Orientation" button. You must attend an orientation before you can volunteer at our ReStores. Orientations are currently being offered Saturday mornings at 9AM and Thursday evenings at 5PM; we are not currently accepting drop-ins to orientations so you must sign up for your intended orientation ahead of time at the above link. The ReStore offers opportunities for volunteers Tuesdays-Sundays and, during this time of change and innovation, welcomes the help of volunteers now more than ever!

IMPORTANT NOTE: Volunteers must be at least 16 years old. Any volunteer under 18 years old must have their waiver signed by a parent or guardian before you can do any volunteer hours with us. So regardless of whether you are volunteering at the ReStore or on the Construction site, download and print our waiver ( https://habitatseminoleapopka.org/wp-content/uploads/2020/01/2020-Waiver-Form-Fill.pdf) and make sure your parent or guardian signs it before you come in for orientation or your first day on the construction site.

We hope to see or hear from you soon!

Mission Statement

Habitat for Humanity in Seminole County & Greater Apopka is an ecumenical, Christian housing ministry that seeks to build and renovate safe, decent, affordable housing in partnership with low- and very low-income residents in Seminole County and Apopka.

Description

While our origins are Christian in nature, we do not discriminate based on race, religion, sexual identity, age or any other factor. Simply put, we seek to give people of all backgrounds a hand up -- not a handout -- in order to ensure a better life and a brighter future. Hardworking & deserving families partner with our organization to achieve the American dream of homeownership. By proving a housing need, demonstrating their ability to pay and fulfilling their partnership requirement, partner families are transformed into homeowners. Habitat Seminole & Apopka has served nearly 130 families in its 20 years, but the need for affordable housing in our commnunity continues to grow. By partnering with local leaders, corporations & small businesses, philanthropic foundations and individuals, we hope to achieve our vision of a world in which everyone has a safe, decent, affordable place to live.
