In view of the Covid -19 Social Distancing protocol, we have CANCELLED THIS EVENT.
On May 16, 2020, we are hosting our annual Quetzalcoatl Aztec Dance Ceremony featuring continuous dance performance exhibitions by guest dancers from around the Bay Area and California in the beautiful Circle of Palms area near the Fairmont Hotel.
We need volunteers to help with the distribution of information flyers to the public, supporting an information booth, serving water to performers, and helping maintain a tidy performance area during the day and cleanup after the close of the event.
Volunteers should bring snacks or may purchase food at vendors nearby during their breaks, please leave valuables locked away in a safe place prior to arrival.
We have service intervals as follows: A) 10:00 am - 2:00 pm; B) 2:00 pm - 6 pm or, C) 10am- 6pm
Please let me know if you would like to sign up for one 4-hour block or for the entire event (inform me of your start and end time).
Orientation and training will precede assignment of duties at your chosen interval on site. Please be on time! Volunteers are asked to remain on duty to the end of their chosen service time.

Tezkatlipoka's mission is to share and promote indigenous Meso American culture through Aztec dance and drumming. Tezkatlipoka strives to maintain a high level of integrity in both teaching and presenting Aztec dancing and drumming that is true to form so that it can be preserved in all its beauty and strength for future generations to come. The group's philosophy centers on preserving the sacred traditions left behind by our ancestors while sharing and exchanging cultural knowledge as a way to foster a sense of unity between all peoples of the Earth.
Description
Calmecac Tezkatlipoka Aztec Dance and Drum (Tezkatlipoka) is a traditional school of learning of Aztec dancing, drumming and culture and is a traditional Aztec dance circle based in San Jose . Tezkatlipoka works towards integrating all dimensions of Meso American dance, music, and performance art while honoring the cultural traditions left behind by our ancestors. Tezkatlipoka has shown a deep commitment to the advancement of Aztec art forms by offering open weekly community classes and through delivering arts education for school and community-based cultural presentations and events.
