Description
Mercy Housing Lakefront (MHL) is one of the largest and most innovative community development organizations in the Chicago and Milwaukee regions. Established in 1986, Mercy Housing Lakefront’s mission is to create stable, vibrant, and healthy communities by developing, financing and operating program-enriched quality housing for families, seniors, and people with special needs who lack the economic resources to access safe, affordable housing opportunities. To meet this mission, MHL has developed and currently manages 28 affordable rental properties enabling over 4,000 people to live in hope.
In addition, MHL is doubling in scale in 2016 by completing construction of four new buildings and assuming stewardship of a housing ministry sponsored by the Wheaton Franciscan Sisters. Ultimately, this work enables working families to overcome poverty, seniors to stay independent, kids to do better in school, and the homeless to escape the streets.
