As our world becomes more globalized and competitive, the need for adults to go back to school and obtain their high school equivalency or GED has increased. We are currently seeking volunteer GED tutors to provide small group instruction on Zoom.
Purpose of Position: To provide tutoring instruction and support to adult literacy students seeking to earn a GED and/or enter employment.
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours/week, with a 6-month commitment
Qualifications:
- Familiar with Zoom
- Excellent reading skills
- Interest in working with adult learners at various levels of literacy
- Interest in working with culturally diverse adult learners
- Patience, reliability, and flexibility
- Completion of Reading Connections' Tutor Training
Duties: Work with adult literacy students who are unemployed or underemployed and seeking employment. The volunteer will be responsible for providing instruction to a small group of students on Zoom. All activities completed will need to be tracked and reported to the students' coordinator.
