Project Read, the adult literacy program of the San Francisco Public Library, is recruiting volunteers to help English-speaking adults on Treasure Island. The time you spend as a one-on-one tutor can change someone's life forever.
The initial tutor training will take place at the Main Library (100 Larkin St.), but meetings between individual tutors and learners will take place at facilities on the island. After volunteers are trained, they will be matched with one adult learner and the two of them will meet weekly for a one to two hour session. Ongoing support and free instructional materials are provided by Project Read staff.
