The Early Stage Memory Loss (ESML) Zoo Walk is a weekly social engagement and fitness opportunity for people living with ESML, with the option for care partner involvement. The program begins with an approximately 45 minute walk throughout the zoo, followed by about 45 minutes of conversation over coffee and snacks at the Zoo Café.
The program runs for 10-12 consecutive weeks, 10:00am - 11:30 am at Woodland Park Zoo, with occasional "field trips" to local parks and museums.
The Walk provides a chance for physical activity, cognitive stimulation, and social connection. The program is open to a set number of participants living with ESML and their care partners, with the support of an appropriate number of volunteers. It is a partnership between the Alzheimer's Association and Lutheran Community Services Northwest.
