Enriching the lives of our patients as a Veteran Volunteer is one of Heartland Hospice's primary missions. Veterans add significant experience and care to the volunteer services we provide, especially to those of our patients who have also served in the United States military. We need your help to fulfill the needs of our patients and families by offering any of the following services:
friendly visiting/companionship
reading personal mail, literature, magazines/newspapers, etc.
storytelling
legacy projects
writing letters
music enrichment via playing an instrument or through an electronic device
translating languages--especially Spanish, French, German
art therapy
pet therapy (pet must have proof of current shots and therapeutic certification for pets)
Our patients and volunteers find these visits to be some of the best moments of their lives. Please help us to continue this rewarding service.

Mission Statement
Heartland Hospice is a growth company dedicated to providing compassionate, high quality home health care. We will achieve this by recruiting professional, caring staff, encouraging our clients to become active participants in their care, and by creating an atmosphere of supportive leadership. We value strong, mutually beneficial relationships with our referral sources, employees, clients and their families, and the community at large.
Description
Our volunteer program caters to the needs of our Hospice patients. Hospice is a special kind of care designed to provide comfort care as well as spiritual and emotional support for people in the final phase of a terminal illness. Hospice focuses on enhancing the quality of life, rather than length of life. It neither hastens nor postpones death; it affirms life and regards dying as a normal process. The hospice program stresses human values that go beyond the physical needs of the patient. Hospice ensures that patients spend their final days in dignity and comfort.
