Where: Duette Preserve, Manatee County
When: Saturday, June 1, 2018; 8:00 a.m. to 12 noon
What to wear: lightweight long pants, closed-toed shoes,
hat/visor, sunscreen.
What to bring: binoculars, plenty of water, snacks, and a
smile!
We will provide: training manual, clipboard, pencil
*Jay Watch training sessions are FREE to participants*

~ We will discuss behavior and ecology of Florida Scrub-
Jays followed by field practice on mapping and counting
Scrub-Jays ~
Participants will learn :
¨ Cooperative family group structure of Florida Scrub-jays
¨ Identifying adults versus juvenile jays and delineating
family groups
¨ Standardized Jay Watch survey methods employed
statewide June 15 -July 15

Volunteers help preserve the homes of native plants and animals, re-establishing much-needed habitat. The work completed by volunteers will also help to secure the land for the enjoyment of future generations. All individuals are welcome to apply to become a volunteer - we have lots of different jobs available!
