Our volunteer Group Leaders create a welcoming space for new parents to share, connect, and support one another. They are the best kind of experts: usually parents themselves, and also often grandparents, aunts or uncles. They don't have all the answers, but they are passionate about facilitating engaging discussions which help parents generate ideas, find information, and build neighborhood communities together.

We love our facilitators to be parents themselves. We appreciate warm, sensitive communicators who are accepting of varied child-rearing practices and diverse lifestyles. Interest in early childhood development, postpartum support, experience in education or facilitation, or previous PIPsqueaks Group participation are welcome pluses. We are looking specifically for bilingual English/Spanish speakers to lead groups in our Community-Based program.

Leaders commit to working with their group for 8 consecutive weeks. PIP provides specialized training for every Group Leader, and Group Leaders have access to experienced PIP mentorship.

About Partners in Parenting

Location:

Mission Statement

Building a village for all new parents. Partners in Parenting (PIP) supports all of Austin’s new parents so they are confident, connected, and have the tools to reach their full potential.

Description

Partners in Parenting (PIP) improves the well-being of Austin’s new parents so they are confident, connected, and have the tools to blossom into their full potential. Our proven approach connects parents of babies with peers, trained facilitators, and experts so they can share the joy and weather the storms of new parenthood together. PIP believes that we build the foundation for healthy families by supporting parents in this early phase of parenthood. By helping Austin’s parents thrive, we help our entire community thrive.

PIPsqueaks Groups are for any new parent to attend with their babies. At each weekly meeting, the families in the Groups share their highs and lows, process the experience of becoming new parents, and learn tips and resources through weekly topic discussions and guest speakers. Our goal is to provide a welcoming and non-judgmental space where families become a support network for each other. Our neighborhood groups usually meet in the homes of groups members. Our community-based groups meet on site at one of our community partner locations. They meet during the day with one parent attending or in the evening with one or both parents. Each meeting includes time to focus on the babies' development and a break time for informal socializing and connecting with other parents.
