ORGANIZATION: NYC Parks Stewardship Program

Cutting Back Weeds

NYC Parks needs your help to defend Pelham Bay Park against the invasive mile-a-minute vine! Native to East Asia, the annual Persicaria perfoliata vine is capable of growing up to six inches a day, often destroying young trees in the process. Join the NYC Parks Stewardship team to help protect our native habitats as we pull up as much of this aggressive weed as possible! Come dressed in sturdy boots or shoes, long pants, and clothing that can get dirty. Please bring your own water bottle. Space is limited and registration is required. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by a chaperone.
