Who We Are
Rescuing Leftover Cuisine is a 501(c)3 non-profit focused on providing a reliable food rescue service by fostering community connections to reduce food waste and food insecurity.
What We Do
We partner with licensed food vendors (offices, restaurants, etc) who know they will have excess, wholesome cuisine and link their food donations to a human service agency within their local community. We then provide volunteer Food Rescuers to collect that excess food on a weekly (sometimes daily!), recurring basis, and walk it to the human service agency to help feed individuals who could benefit from a good meal!!!

RLC is currently seeking passionate and committed Volunteer Food Rescuers on Monday's or Wednesday's to help us transport food from our food donor partners to local homeless shelters, soup kitchens, and other human service agencies in our communities across NYC. Each food rescue event can be done on foot, and each event typically takes less than an hour. That means that less than a mile of walking and a hour of your time can reduce food waste and provide meals to those who need it most!
No Age Limit, but anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a chaperone that is 18+ years old.

Description
Rescuing Leftover Cuisine (RLC) is a nonprofit organization committed to fighting food insecurity and preventing wasted food. We have cultivated a network of dedicated food rescuers who bring food directly from our food donors to nonprofit recipients, letting neighbors help neighbors while reaping the environmental and economic benefits of reducing wasted food. Founded in 2013, our simple, but elegant model has saved over 8 million pounds of food since our inception.
