VITAS Healthcare is looking for volunteers to provide companionship and pampering to hospice facility patients. This includes Ballwin Ridge Health and Rehab Center located at 1441 Charic Dr., Wildwood, Mo 63021. Hospice volunteers visiting nursing home patients lessen the burden on family members who may live too far to play an active role in their loved one’s life.
Volunteers are matched with a VITAS patient to provide specific, non- medical care through socialization and friendly visits. Every VITAS volunteer receives training in hospice philosophy, communication skills, how to support patients/families, health/safety precautions and more. Comprehensive training and orientation for hospice volunteering is provided to help with making a positive difference in patients’ lives.
