ORGANIZATION: Reading Connections, Inc

Position Title : Literacy Tutor for Adult Refugee Students- Greensboro

Purpose: Provide one-on-one assistance with refugee students who are learning English. These are students that are a part of the grant-funded Islamic Relief USA program facilitated by Reading Connections.

Responsibilities:

  • Commit to tutoring an adult student for at least 2-4 hours per week. Tutors are of course welcome to do more with their student!
  • Collaborate and communicate with the tutor/program coordinator give updates on student(s) being tutored (at least monthly), seek assistance as needed, and collaborate on tutoring material.
  • Attend tutor training.

Time Commitment: 6 months -1 year

Qualifications:

  • Welcoming to refugees.
  • Curious about languages and cultures.
  • Enthusiastic about teaching a new language and skill to refugees.
  • Patient with learners of the English language.
