Be a docent for a once in a lifetime exhibit in a beautiful environment and building. The Department of Heritage & Arts and Spike 150 have brought together precious artifacts to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Transcontinental Railroad (TCRR). The 1862 Railroad Act signed by Abraham Lincoln and TCRR golden spikes along with other treasures will be on display in the Gold Room of the Utah State Capitol, May 3rd through June 25th. We need volunteer docents 7 days a week: 8:30 am until 8:30 pm Monday through Thursday and 8:30 am until 6:30 pm Friday, Saturday and Sunday for 3 and 4 hour shifts. Talk to people about railroad history, Utahs history and the history of the West (we will provide information). Basic duties include crowd management, customer service,and enforcement of exhibit rules. Sign up and be an ambassador for the State of Utah! UServeUtah, the Utah Commission on Service and Volunteerism, was created by state statute in 1994 and is comprised of 20 members representing local government, community based organizations, and statewide networks, as well as 8 staff. As the state's central coordinating body for service and volunteerism, the Commission is responsible for developing, implementing, and sustaining a vision and culture of civic engagement and national and community service within the state.
