Volunteer Tutors Needed -- We need your help!

Tutoring of Children, Families and Adults in:

Reading & Conversational English.

No teaching experience necessary! No language other than English needed!

October 2019 Orientation (All: Children, Families & Adults): October 9, 10:00am-12:00pm (noon)
Training Sessions (2) to tutor Adults: October 15, 10:00am - 1:00pm & October 16, 10:00am - 1:00pm
Training Session (1) to tutor PreK Children & Parents (Families): October 14, 1:00pm - 3:00pm


November 2019
Orientation (All: Children, Families & Adults): November 6, 10:00am-12:00pm(noon)
Training Sessions (2) to tutor Adults: November 12, 10:00am - 1:00pm & November 13, 10:00am - 1:00pm
Training Session (1) to tutor PreK Children & Parents (Families): November 11, 1:00pm - 3:00pm

Please Note: No orientation is scheduled for December 2019.

January 2020 Orientation (All: Children, Families & Adults): January 15, 2020, 10:00am-12:00pm (noon)
Training Sessions (2) to tutor Adults: January 21, 2020, 10:00am - 1:00pm & January 22, 2020, 10:00am - 1:00pm
Training Session to tutor PreK Children & Parents (Families): January 20, 2020, 1:00pm - 3:00pm

Participants are expected to attend all sessions to complete the training.

Mission Statement

The mission of Literacy Volunteers of Collier County is to promote quality of life for our students and their families by improving their English skills.

Description

History: Since 1984, Literacy Volunteers of Collier County (LVCC), a 501c3 non-profit organization, has been offering free and confidential one-to-one tutoring to adults who want to improve their reading, writing, and English speaking skills to participate more fully in the daily tasks of life such as family, employment, school and community. Serving over 600 students with a growing list of individuals to be served, LVCC helps meet the challenges of Collier County's growing population to ensure that all people from all walks of life deserve the chance to live productive and fulfilling lives.

An accredited affiliate of ProLiteracy America, LVCC's trained and dedicated tutors work with students of all levels. All teaching, which is confidential and free, is centered on individual needs and goals of the students and is designed to promote the potential and dignity of every student and to increase students' language skills to help build confidence and self-esteem.
