Red Cross Fleet Volunteer
Time commitment: Up to 10 hours a week
Do you have an appreciation of vehicles and their upkeep in prime condition? Help manage the Red Cross fleet with vehicle registrations and maintenance to ensure fully operational and deployable regional fleet. In the role work with a small team to meet Red Cross and DOT fleet policies and standards, engage in identifying vehicles for repair, disposal, or replacement while suggesting improvements to regional fleet. You’ll need to have a current driver's license and must able to clear a Motor Vehicle check.

Communications: Writer
Time commitment: Flexible dependent on the needs of the regional communications department.
Red Cross Writers are a part of a creative content volunteer team that creates professionally-written content for news releases, media alerts, and regional platforms including social media feeds, websites and other outlets. The role needs: Strong writing, editing, research and interpersonal skills. Volunteer needs to be familiar with basic computer operations. We’re seeking authentic, creative, funny and engaging storytellers. Following the Communications calendar, you’ll identify stories, conduct interviews, write and post daily; focus on client stories and service delivery. You might even shoot photos!

Service to the Armed Forces: Maine Veterans Home Volunteer
Time commitment: Flexible with scheduled commitment
Contribute to the quality of life provided by the Maine Veterans Home (MVH) system through volunteer jobs provided at the local MVH facility. You’ll bring: a desire to help people with diverse backgrounds, initiative, communication skills, and work well with others along with flexibility in adapting to surrounding and tasks.

Duty Officer: Disaster Services
Time commitment: Remote/At home position; 4-6 on-call 12 hours shifts/month. Note: shift length somewhat negotiable and On-duty but only active when calls come.)
Maine's Duty Officers play a crucial role dispatching our disaster responders to disaster scenes such as home fires. In so doing the Duty Officer ensures accountability and standardization for the entire state's disaster response and recovery program.

Southern Maine Agency on Aging Volunteer Services provides opportunities to make a difference in the community through volunteer service. Volunteers contribute anywhere from a few to over forty hours a week, serving through schools, meals on wheels, hospitals and other nonprofit and public organizations to help meet critical community needs. We offer maximum flexibility and choice to our volunteers. RSVP matches the personal interests and skills of the over age 55 volunteer to opportunities in selected imapct service areas to help solve community problems. RSVP volunteers receive supplemental insurance while on duty, and on-the-job training from the agency or organization where they are placed.
