ALPHA Nursery - Project Coordinator
Project Overview
- To create an economically sustainable, self-sustaining, community-based tree nursery
- To provide an educational opportunity for at-risk youth to learn about trees and the natural sciences while being exposed to nature, which has proven to mitigate mental health issues.
Job Purpose
The purpose of the Project Coordinator position is to lead the project by identifying and working with a diverse set of stakeholders and partners for successful design and implementation. The Project Coordinator will work with cities and private landowners to identify a location for the tree nursery, work with volunteers to create a viable business plan, work with other nonprofits to develop an educational curriculum, and coordinate any other components necessary for the success of the project.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
- Be available as the main point of contact for the ALPHA nursery project
- Develop and foster key partners for all aspects of the design and implementation of the ALPHA nursery
- Develop and/or work with other relevant volunteers to design a business plan
- Manage and work with volunteers to include key components of urban forestry specific to Arizona, such as drought resilient trees, etc.
- Identify financial/funding partnerships for the nursery
- Report all progress and information back to the Urban Forestry priority leaders
