The comfort of a dog's wagging tail is the best medicine for patients with Alzheimer's and dementia related illnesses. Looking for four legged volunteers to make friendly pet therapy visits with our Sanctuary Hospice patients in Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Medina, Trumbull, Portage, Mahoning and Summit Counties.
Humans required to complete volunteer application, background check, TB and training-provided FREE of charge. Canines required to provide dog's license, shot records and Pet Partners or TDI certification.

Patients and Families Come First The mission of Sanctuary Hospice is to understand and help guide our patients’ quest for a rewarding quality of life in their final days and to help their circle of family and friends support them in life and grieve for them in death. Sanctuary pledges to provide expert hospice care for the comfort and dignity of the terminally ill by addressing their individual physical, emotional and spiritual needs. Sanctuary Hospice serves as a resource to the community for end-of-life care and related issues and seeks to provide care for all appropriate patients and families who need hospice services regardless of ability to pay.

Description

Hospice Volunteers come from all walks of life, yet they all share a common desire-to enrich their own lives and the lives of others by giving generously of their time, energy and talents. Volunteers are an integral part of our hospice team. Once trained they may work in several areas: Administrative, Direct Patient Care Visitation for companionship and support, Bereavement support, Pet therapy, Music Therapy and many other Special Alternative Complementary services.
