The Board of Directors, in fact and in law, owns Communities In Schools Chatham County (CIS CC) As such all members are expected to commit time and energy towards CIS CC’s effectiveness. Board service extends beyond attending meetings, fund raising and monetary contributions. Board members are expected to commit to the following:

General Expectations

• Bring goodwill to the board
• Stay informed about and active in CIS CC’s mission, programs,policies,strengths and needs.
• Nominate people to the board who can significantly contribute to the board’s diversity, expertise and effectiveness.
• Keep current on developments in mentoring, child welfare and juvenile justice relevant to the work of CIS CC.
• Willingly and enthusiastically serve in leadership positions, on special committees, and special assignments.
• Call of any matter of potential significance to the board chair.
• Actively govern CIS CC’s methods, planning, and policies in accordance with its mission and
• Represent CIS CC in a positive and professional manner at all times.
• Regularly review and work to improve organizational and board performance.
