Qualifications & Special Skills Required:
* Willingness to clean up animal waste
* Must be able to squat and bend
* Must be able to work safely and respectfully around animals
* Experience handling animals is preferred, but training is required regardless
* Must be able to follow sanitation and safety protocols
* Must maintain a positive relationship with all clients and staff
Responsibilities:
* Clean all cages/runs
* Provide fresh water (all animals)
* Feed cats or small animals
* Assist with laundry and dishes
* Take out trash
* Clean floors of assigned areas
* Ensure overall cleanliness of facility
Required Training:
* 40 Minute Volunteer Orientation (to be scheduled any Tuesday, Thursday or Friday with Volunteer Coordinator)
* One-on-One Area Training (to be scheduled in the afternoon with the Cat Program Coordinator)

The Providence Animal Rescue League provides for the rescue and relief of suffering or homeless animals and performs charitable or benevolent acts for the welfare of animals. The League accomplishes its mission by:Providing appropriate shelter and humane care for homeless animals, seeking permanent, responsible homes for adoptable pets, reducing pet overpopulation through strict spay/neuter measures, and providing a diversity of humane education programs to meet community needs.
Description
The Providence Animal Rescue League is a private not-for-profit animal welfare organization which was founded by concerned citizens in 1913. The League has cared for hundreds of thousands of animals over its decades of service to the community. Although the League's shelter is located in Providence, the League offers assistance to animals in need from all communities. Specific services offered by the League include adoption service to re-home pets, spaying/neuering, micro-chipping, vaccinations, free identification tag and veterinary exam, emergency pet food assistance, educational programs, internship opportunities, lost and found registry, quarterly newsletter, and volunteer opportunities.
