Our school wants your help!

LearningSpring School, a K-8 non-profit school for children diagnosed on the autism spectrum, is seeking volunteers for its annual LSS Blooms Benefit on Tuesday, April 30. This year we will be honoring Ken Langone, Co-Founder of The Home Depot and Chairman of NYU Langone Health.

We are in need of volunteers to help during the event.

The volunteer shift is 5:00 PM -to 10:00 PM (dinner will be provided).

Volunteer tasks (during the event):

  • Watch over the Silent Auction table
  • Assist guests with finding their seats
  • Help facilitate our Call To Action appeal
  • Bidding For Good tech support

Attire: Volunteers should wear black business casual clothing (i.e. woman- a black dress, skirt, or black dress pants with a black blouse or top; man- black dress pants with a collared shirt).

Please note: All volunteers must be at least 21 years old.

Mission Statement

The LearningSpring School for children on the autism spectrum in grades K-8 is committed to advance the social, developmental and academic growth of its students through pioneering educational and therapeutic strategies in order to prepare each child to participate in the wider community.

Description

The LearningSpring Curriculum is multi-disciplinary, rich in content, and is constantly changing in order to be responsive to the student’s needs. It is structured to minimize distraction and to help increase the student’s flexibility. The uniqueness of the curriculum is that it is not based on one methodology, but draws on a variety of techniques and resources. It is comprised of the following:

  • An academic curriculum that adheres to the New York State Education Department Learning Standards.
  • Social-Cognitive-Behavioral Curriculum that is taught and practiced throughout the entire school day.
  • Speech/Language Therapy
  • Occupational Therapy
  • Physical Education
  • Computer/Keyboarding
  • Enrichment Classes in Drama, Music, Art, and Yoga
  • Weekly read-a-louds in Library with opportunities to withdraw books
