Project Description: Teams of 3 people will be digging holes and planting trees in in the yards of 3 to 5 residences. After orientation and training, most teams will walk to their assigned residences.
Date: Saturday, April 27, 2019
Time: 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. **Please arrive around 8:45 a.m. for check-in/registration**
Where: Sheridan Recreation Center, 3325 W Oxford Ave, Denver, CO 80236. Please meet at Gazebo.
- Transportation and Parking: Carpooling is highly encouraged. You are welcome to park in the Recreation Center’s lot.
- Public transportation: RTD bus route 51 will take you right by the Recreation Center
Food:We will have light breakfast items and coffee for volunteers prior to planting. We will also provide lunch following your return!
What to wear: You will be walking and working outdoors. Please dress appropriately for the weather. We suggest you wear:
· Sturdy, closed-toe shoes
· Long pants
· A hat to protect you from the sun or the weather
· Several layers so that you can adjust to Colorado’s unpredictable weather patterns
· Work gloves if you have them
· Please do not wear clothing, buttons, or hats with political or religious messaging
What to bring:
· Your own water bottle(We will not be providing plastic water bottles)
· A signed Groundwork Denver volunteer waiver (attached)
· A smile and a positive attitude!
· Waiver: All volunteers must sign a waiver before they can participate. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a waiver signed by their parent or guardian to participate. We will have waivers to sign at registration.
Weather Contingency Plan:
Average temperatures during this morning each year range between 50-60 degrees, but if that should drastically change, I will send out an email the day before. Cancellation will occur if:
· It is snowing by 8:00 a.m. the morning of April 27 th.
· It’s raining so hard that you will get soaked even with an umbrella or a raincoat
