ORGANIZATION: Gateway Public Schools

We are seeking a professional or semi-pro photographer to help us document an incredible milestone in our students’ lives - 8th Grade Promotion.

With your help we’re hoping to garner candid and posed photos of Gateway students before, during, and after the ceremony to share with families and in our various communications outlets.

Volunteer photographers will need to utilize personal photography equipment and are expected to share full rights to digital media. We ask that all of our volunteers enjoy working with youth, have an enthusiasm for community service, and believe in the power of public education.

If you are interested, we’d love to hear from you! Please contact Gateway’s Director of Communications, Meg Orciari at morciari@gatewaypublicschools.org with any questions.

About Gateway Public Schools

Mission Statement

Gateway Public Schools’ mission is to prepare a broad range of learners for success in college and beyond. As model public charter schools, we are committed to serving a student body that reflects the diversity of San Francisco including a special emphasis on students with diagnosed learning disabilities, and helping each and every one of our students get into college and thrive. We believe that all students are capable of learning at high levels when schools pair high expectations and a school-wide understanding that students learn differently. At Gateway, we combine a rigorous academic program with an approach where the individual talents, strengths, and needs of our learners are identified and supported.

Description

In 1998, six parents dreamed of creating a gateway to college for all students regardless of race, income, or learning style. They founded Gateway High School, a college preparatory, public charter school in San Francisco. We expanded our model with the addition of a middle school in 2011. Now, 96% of our graduates go on to college, double the statewide rate. All Gateway students learn at high levels and they all learn differently. We offer a rigorous academic program in a nurturing environment, identifying and supporting the individual talents, strengths, and needs of each student.
