Companion Visitor

Are you ready to be a friend and provide caring presence? Do you enjoy spending time with others? Hospice of the Miami Valley is seeking visitor volunteers who can spend quality time with our patients. Reading out loud, playing board games and bingo, doing puzzles, or coloring pictures are just a few examples of quality time that our patients will enjoy and appreciate.

Volunteers are an important part of the Hospice team. Friendly visitor volunteers for HOMV offer support, companionship, and practical, caring help to patients and their families facing a life-limiting illness. The help and support that our volunteers give is returned to them in countless ways.

This position offers flexibility in time commitment and schedule, but consistent availability to visit is ideal. Our Volunteer Coordinator will provide specialized training and will walk with you every step of the way. Volunteers may choose to visit patients in their homes or at public health care facilities. You will be supported in your role by a competent and caring group of nurses, aides, social workers, chaplains, and fellow volunteers. All supplies will be provided by Hospice.

Volunteers will report to our office in Xenia. However, we serve 13 counties in the Greater Dayton area, so we have many locations with which volunteers could be involved.

If you'd like to become a caring presence to those in need, please call Volunteer Coordinator Anne Metzger at (937) 458-6028 or email anne.metzger@homv.org
