We're nearing the 16th annual Ken-Ducky Derby and need help from volunteers like you for the day to run smoothly!
The Ken-Ducky Derby (KDD) is an annual fundraising rubber duck race held in Louisville, KY, and is an official Kentucky Derby Festival event. Every year, thousands of rubber ducks are dropped into the Ohio River and raced to the finish line. We are expecting to race over 42,000 ducks this year so we need all the help we can get!

Volunteers will receive a free KDD t-shirt and a Pegasus Pin to give you entry to select Kentucky Derby Festival events.

We have shifts all day but will need the most people at 10am- helping to set up the event, move bike racks, etc. and the last shift 5pm-8/9pm to help scoop ducks out of the water and clean up.

See shifts below:
Shift 1: 10 a.m.-1:30 p.m. -set up, duck sales, merchandise sales
Shift 2: 1:30 p.m.-5 p.m. -duck and merchandise sales
Shift 3: 5-8/9 p.m -scooping the ducks and clean up

Volunteers will enter at the gate located between Joe's Crab Shack and the river. See attached picture of the map for help!

PARKING is always a bit tricky when it comes to the Kentucky Derby Festival. My suggestion is to park somewhere downtown and walk to the waterfront. You most likely will need to pay to park, especially if it’s in a garage. Another suggestion is to take an Uber down to the waterfront, or if you have a friend or relative that can drop you off and pick you back up, that’s a great option as well.

Please leave plenty of time to arrive for your shift, taking into account traffic and finding a place to park if you're driving.
