Altus Hospice is seeking Bilingual volunteers to spend time with our Spanish-Speaking only patients and families. Volunteers provide companionship, socialization, and support to patients and their families with things such as: Reading to the patient, Singing, doing small chores and finishing any end of life activities. Volunteers also provide Caregiver Respite to family members which enables family members/Caregiver to take a small break (for errands, grocery shopping, or just getting out the house). Present volunteers have reported that the feel a fulfillment in their lives know that they are making a difference with patients at the end of life. Having bilingual volunteers help bridge the gap of language barriers in healthcare. Another benefit of having bilingual volunteers is it makes the patients feel more comfortable. We will work with your schedule and availability, but would love it if you are able to volunteer 2-3 hours a week. If you are ready to make a difference, place contact: Bobbie Liggins, Volunteer Coordinator at 281-583-5455 Office or via cell at 936-293-6044.
