We are looking for people to join our Zero Waste Team to help at the Mayor's Green Fair on Fri, June 14th (6-9pm). Shifts are 1.5 hrs in length and will be 6:00 - 7:30 pm and 7:30 - 9:00 pm. Please specify which shift you are interested in when you reply to the posting.
This event is downtown Ann Arbor on Main Street between Huron and William streets.
As a volunteer on the Zero Waste Team you play a critical role in helping the Mayor's Green Fair achieve its zero waste goal! Volunteers on the Zero Waste Team oversee a three-bin Zero Waste Station (one large compost bin, one large recycle bin, one small trash bin) to guide event patrons on which bin to place their materials in. The work of volunteers helps us avoid contamination and reach more community members in demonstrating the vast amount of our "waste" that can really be diverted from the landfill through composting and recycling!
Thanks to help of past volunteers, the Ann Arbor Mayor's Green Fair has achieved an average landfill diversion rate of 92% (only 8% of material collected went to landfill, the rest was composted or recycled)!
*Upon expressing your interest, we will send you back a confirmation email for the shift you specify. Closer to the event you will receive important volunteer information, logistics, and the meeting locations.
