Surrounded by lush forested mountains, the 54 mile long reservoir is located in beautiful North Central Idaho. Since the completion of the dam in 1973, Dworshak Dam has offered and is continually improving the recreational and natural resource benefits. Our geocache trail has been completed check out our website or visitor center for locations. We are currently working on horseback riding trails.

The dam is located on the North Fork of the Clearwater River, about 5 miles from Orofino, Idaho. Dworshak Dam is a flood risk management project and was completed after seven years of construction. Congress authorized the project for flood control, hydropower generation, outdoor recreation, navigation, and fish and wildlife benefits. Today, we continue to operate for these purposes to benefit the public.
