Community Meal - open to anyone who wants to volunteer this Spring

ORGANIZATION: Insight Housing

We are looking for volunteers to help at our Community Meal! We serve a free, nutritious meal to around 100 members of the community who are homeless or on the verge of homelessness.

Shifts are from 2:45pm-5:00pm, and you can sign up for one or more days of the week. We need help all days of the meal, but a schedule on a website will show which days are lighter than others.

We prefer our volunteers to work a regular shift for three months, but it is not a requirement.

Community Meal is served at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 1744 University Ave, Berkeley, 94703

Volunteer duties include:

  • Setting up tables
  • Plating and serving food
  • Bussing tables
  • Washing dishes
  • Sweeping and mopping floors
  • General cleanup and breakdown

The Hope Center is the flagship of Insight Housing and offers a wide range of housing and support for people experiencing homelessness and food insecurity. Our many volunteers offer their time, energy and talents to make our work possible.
