We are seeking innovative, driven individuals who have a passion for making real change in young people's lives to assist with program support and facilitation. This could involve direct or indirect youth work, or both!
Waukesha County has a Positive Youth Initiative Program that aims to help youth learn self care and wellness, develop new skills, gain connections, and learn new life habits. The goal is to keep at-risk children, ages 11-18 out of the juvenile system and explore positive life paths.
We have a variety of current programming which includes a community gardening group, a hiking group, a zumba group, a teen cuisine group, a emotional coping skills group, and a teen court group.
Volunteers are welcome to assist with activities and facilitation of these groups as a group leader assistant. Each program typically runs 5-8 weeks and is usually held in the afternoons or early evenings of a weekday. We are seeking volunteers to assist in an ongoing capacity, with more than one program per year. For each program that volunteers assist with we request a weekly commitment to ensure relationship building with the youth.
Do you have a great idea of new programming? We are also seeking volunteers to help expand our youth programming and the options are limitless (as long as they are within our mission and budget)! In fact, many of our current initiatives have been volunteer driven. We'd need a volunteer who could assist with the research, planning, and execution to make additional programs possible.
