Volunteers at the Friends of the Oregon City Library Used Bookstore perform a wide variety of functions in support of book sales. Volunteers sort and process donations from public - eliminating those items that cannot be sold, cleaning books, determine value based on pre-set guidelines, pricing book and shelving books. Volunteers greet customers, assist in helping customers find what books they're seeking, and process sales. Volunteers also manage books by cleaning shelves, removing old items from shelves and keeping the bookstore clean and neat. With experience, volunteers will also learn to open and close the bookstore as needed.

Mission Statement

This 501(c) 3 non-profit organization shall be operated for literary and educational purposes A.to unify a group of persons interested in supporting all library services. B.to foster public awareness of the resources, services, and needs of the library. C.to support and assist the Oregon City Library. D.to participate in programs to secure materials and aid beyond the regular library budget E.to provide a resource for the distribution of used books and media, which includes a venue for the library to remove excess materials.

Description

The Friends of the Oregon City Library operate a used bookstore. The bookstore is wholly staffed by volunteers and all sale proceeds support programs at the Oregon City Library.

  • Volunteers are requested to work at least 4 hours per week.
