Are you a current or retired Nurse, CNA, or other Medical Professional? Want to put your skills to use assisting Caregivers in providing care to Mercy Hospice Direct Patient Care Volunteers? Or, do you hear a calling to work with our nursing staff to provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to hospice patients in our inpatient facility in Johnston, Iowa? These services range from assisting with bathing, toileting, preparing meals and feeding, or providing companionship. Volunteers would be paired with a staff member for all duties, they would not be expected to provide cares independently. - We ask that you commit to a volunteer period of one year minimum. However, there is no set amount of hours you must volunteer. Schedules and availability will discussed at initial interview.
- Hospice volunteer orientation and skills training will be provided. Volunteers will undergo a background check and drug screen.
