Are you a current or retired Nurse, CNA, or other Medical Professional? Want to put your skills to use assisting Caregivers in providing care to MercyOne Hospice patients? Or, do you hear a calling to work with our nursing staff to provide assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) to hospice patients in our inpatient facility in Johnston, Iowa? These services range from assisting our Patient Care Techs with bathing, toileting, preparing meals and feeding, or providing companionship to our patients. Volunteers would be paired with a staff member for all duties, they would not be providing cares independently. 2 Shifts

  • 08:00 AM to 12:00 PM
    Volunteers needed for help with bathing, meal prep, and turning patients in the mornings and evenings. Largest need is on the Weekends. flexible times
  • evening / 05:00 PM to 08:00 PM
    Assistance with evening cares, turns, and meal prep. Times and days are flexible.

  • Orientation or Training
  • We ask that you commit to a volunteer period of one year minimum. However, there is no set amount of hours you must volunteer. Schedules and availability will discussed at initial interview.
  • Hospice volunteer orientation and skills training will be provided. Volunteers will undergo a background check, physical, drug screen, and must have proof of COVID-19 vaccination.
