Mercy Hospice

Do you have a pet that would make an excellent comfort, companion pet? Want to enrich the final days of a hospice patient? Consider joining the Mercy Hospice Volunteer Team with your pet (dog)that has completed the Canine Good Citizen training and is registered with Therapy Dogs International or Canine Companions for Independence. We are also open to other animals/pets who have been through similar training programs.

Visits may be done with patients at Mercy Hospice-Johnston (Inpatient hospice facility) or in Care Facilities where our hospice patients reside (within a 50 mile radius of Des Moines). This can be routinely scheduled visits to the MHJ facility or per patient request for pet therapy visits.
